Freedom Requires Self-Discipline

“Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.”

― James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

Who could guess that the freedom requires quite a lot self-discipline! The freer you want to be the better you have to manage your mind, thoughts, actions, habits and emotions – and it all needs self-discipline! The lack self-discipline causes only chaos and dust. That is not the kind of freedom I am looking for and I bet, that you neither.

The fact is that if you haven’t self-disciplined, someone else outside you takes the role and disciplines you! That is what happens between children and parents: the parent, especially father, often have the role of the discipline-keeper.

But when you are an adult, don’t you think that taking the discipline in your life belongs to you in every aspect?

Take Your Power For Yourself!

Self-discipline sounds dull. Who cares, let’s be free! Some people really think that freedom is the same as the lack of the self-discipline.

The Laws of the Universe take care, that there is always someone who put things in order! The Law of Cause and Effect functions every day and there is no way to escape! Whatever you do or not do, has effects in your life.

If you don’t use your power and be self-disciplined, someone else uses it to you. Here, we can think about the Law of Polarity: There is energy and you can use it either way: for or against you.

What Does The Self-Discipline Mean?

Self-discipline means among others that you finish what you start, you are on time, you do what you promise to accomplish and in general, you have the control over your life.

It means even higher qualities: The ability to choose your thoughts and in that way, to take control over your feelings and gain your power!

When you have the self-disciplined mind, you do not react, your response, you don’t let other peoples thoughts, feelings, emotions or outer happenings affect your self-esteem or your values or choices. You stand on own feet!

”True self-discipline is not a punitive or restrictive lifestyle as some people think, and it has nothing to do with being narrow minded or living like a fakir. It is the expression of inner strength and staying power, vital for dealing with the affairs of daily life and for the achieving of goals.” (source)

“Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. Simply, self-discipline enables you to think first and act afterward.”
Napoleon Hill (source)

How To Become Self-Disciplined?

You must know what you want in life so that you have a reason to be self-disciplined! The other option is to follow other peoples orders – they make you disciplined!

But you want to feel that you’re an independent, capable individual who has something to give in this life! When you set your goals and start to achieve them, the practice of self-discipline is the natural step to take because, without it, you accomplish nothing.

Breaking the old habits that do not benefit you is one work you have to do! Maybe you must start to wake up earlier in the mornings that you were used to. You start to manage your finances better when you learn new systems and apply them in your everyday actions.

There are many programs where professional coaches teach how to change old habits to the new, better ones. Mostly they are the old habits that keep you stuck in your life. And then, practice! There is no way out then finally practise to be self-disciplined! In my opinion, this is an interesting self-development area because it is endless. You can always become better!

When self-discipline has become a habit, it is not so difficult anymore! You don’t think about it! You can concentrate on other things.

The Reward Of Being Self-Disciplined

There is nothing else but good in the self-discipline. I believe that when I master better my self-discipline, it provides me with the peace of mind and less chaos. All my relationships will bloom more beautiful than ever and the most evidently it affects positively also my finances.
